How is it different from other soccer videos?

At the risk of sound arrogant, most soccer training videos are not great. In fact some are a waste of money.  We spent years watching soccer training videos and having soccer players, soccer coaches and parents watch them.  The end result?  They were simply disappointed and even shocked at how poor many of them were.  Some training videos produced even taught skills the wrong way. Many showed the skills but not how to learn them or teach them.

SoccerU is one of those series that you will keep and cherish your entire soccer career. From being a soccer player, to being a soccer parent, to the highest levels of soccer coaching, it will last a lifetime.  It is EXACTLY what you asked for; a step by step training series that everyone can learn from. With over 8 hours of technical training and learning it is the most comprehensive soccer training series ever produced.

Why is it different?

SoccerU understands that soccer people learn by watching HOW TO TEACH. Simply watching great players perform soccer skills does nothing for development. You need to watch all ages and skill levels being taught. Then you will learn how to teach these skills.

We use all age and skill levels. From beginning 10 year olds all the way up to Division 1 college players.  Each of these players has skills that need to be improved and skills they were never taught. You will see them perform them the right way and the wrong way. The same thing that happens when you’re training.

What age is it designed for?

What is amazing about the SoccerU series is that we understand that soccer players are not limited in skill by their age.

FOLLOW CLOSELY ON THIS POINT.

Coach V is adamant about this.

If you have a 17 year old soccer player that has never been given a lesson on proper slide tackling, where do you begin your training with them?  The SAME place you would if you had a 12 year old player.  Age means nothing if the player has never been taught the skill or taught the skill properly. You will watch 10 year olds and college level players all learning and refining the same skills. They learn differently, comprehend differently and master them differently, but the skill is the skill and must be taught the same way.

The same applies in so many other things we do and in other sports. If you want to start playing golf and your 30 years old, where do you start?  If you are 40 years old and want to start learning martial arts, where do you start?  You start at the same point a 12 year old would, learning the basic skills that you have never learned.

What does it cover?
The content list is HUGE with over 30 chapters and 8 hours of training.

This is a short clip from the series.
This is a short section about teaching the slide tackle. Did you know that 95% of advanced level soccer players NEVER get a lesson in slide tackling? Watch as you learn how to teach from the beginner to the advanced level.

The "Mistaken Assumption".

youth soccer coachMost parents assume that having their child play on an advanced or travel team and attending soccer camps during the summer means their player is getting all the skills needed to develop into a quality player when older.

This assumption has been made by many but
is simply not true.

Ask any good soccer coach what he feels is missing from his program and the answer will almost always be TIME.  One to two hours a week for 8 - 12 weeks is simply not enough time to properly train young players in ALL the basic and essential skills.  Soccer players and soccer parents MUST work on individual skills outside of normal team sessions.
However, most soccer parents and even many soccer coaches have never been properly trained in BASIC INDIVIDUAL TECHNICAL SKILL TRAINING.  There is so much to do and so much to learn that this LONG and IN-DEPTH knowledge never gets learned or passed on.

SoccerU is designed to help TRAIN THE TEACHER. If you are a soccer player, you must become your own teacher. If you are a soccer parent, it is time to learn to teach. If you are a soccer coach, it is time to learn the true, specific forms of individual skills.

It is estimated to take about 10,000 hours of training and competition to reach a high level of proficiency in any sport. In soccer, this process will take a minimum of ten years. Talented and motivated young players must be given the opportunity to train more frequently under good coaches and with other talented and motivated players. Therefore, outside of regular training sessions, a minimum of two optimal practice opportunities should be provided per week. (US Youth Soccer Player Development)    See It HERE

"SOCCER U" Covers EVERY aspect of Technical Training.

It wasn't our design...
It was designed by you and top level coaches.

We surveyed 1000's of coaches, parents and players and asked them what THEY wanted in their "dream training series". The result is SOCCER U.

Division one college coaches also helped by defining weaknesses they see in players they see and strengths they would like developed.

Many of the technical skills covered are skills a youth player will NEVER be exposed to in regular soccer training sessions.  These are critical skills to learn early on otherwise they may never be learned or become a HABIT.

Simply "playing the game" or performing "drills" does NOT produce quality soccer players. A complete and thorough exposure to ALL the technical skills is essential.  Every soccer player, coach and soccer parent can now learn the FULL range of technical skills and how to teach them.  Read More

Why are most soccer players truly "under developed"?

We think it was said best by former U.S. Men’s National Team captain Claudio Reyna...

“It’s possible at any time during a player’s career to get into top physical shape or to try to win every game! But you can’t teach skills to an old player. Youth coaches should keep in mind that individual skills need to be nurtured at an early age. Players who haven’t mastered the fundamental skills become frustrated because the game gets too difficult for them as they move into higher levels.”

Most players receive a small amount of technical training 1 or two days a week. This happens for 2 or 3 months, once or twice a year. Some may attend camps for 3 to 5 days during the summer.

The "average player" will have between 100 - 300 hours of true technical training during their full development phase.

Compare this to residential academy programs where in just 4 years many of these players will receive more than 2000 hours of technical and growth training. (We didn't say playing the game.)
